I am a mean mom

I just made my first official mom threat using a non existent creature . Saige was up super early, and has been super cranky today. She had a meltdown when I said it's time for bed. So I picked up the phone and "called" the Easter bunny. LMAO I hung up the phone and told her he said he says he wont be coming if you don't stop giving me a hard time or if you go up those stairs and wake up your brother.

Her eyes grew like 3 sizes, she immediately stopped, stood still and quietly said "I'm ready for bed now mom, I'll be good" And she did, without waking the baby.

Somehow I think I should feel bad for doing that, but I don't. Instead I started thinking how many more years will that work? I think whoever came up with Santa and the Easter bunny totally did it to threaten their kids.

Are all men like this?

The kids had a doctor visit this morning. Rylan has been a bit sick.... let's just say I have done SEVERAL loads of the nastiest laundry I have ever seen this week. He has a virus but thankfully seems to be much better. He's up to 17.11 lbs and 28inches, although I think he has lost some weight from being sick.

Saige had a surprisingly detailed physical for pre-k. I'm glad it's done, I don't have to think about my princess going to school again for months :( She is up to 34 lbs, 37.5 inches.

I mentioned the appointment to Robby last night, when I got up this morning he asked me time we had to be there, I told him again. While I was getting Saige ready I handed Robby Rylan's clothes, I know better than to have him get the clothes. It becomes what do you want me to put him in? What color? Is this the right one? should he wear a shirt too? (umm no just pants and shoes, that's completely normal, hello it's 25 degrees out what do you think) I handed him his snowsuit and told him to put that on him once he was dressed. He asks me "where are we going?"

So at the dr's office, I start stripping the baby down to be weighed to find that Robby didn't bother to take off the dirty cereal covered pajamas he was in- he just put the clothes on OVER them. No wonder the little guy was so upset, he was cooking in the backseat.

If that's not enough, we go to a family doctor, while waiting for him Saige says he is a doctor for everyone in town. (Everyone in town is her favorite phrase) Robby turns to her and says no he is kid doctor. I told Saige to ignore daddy and yes he is doctor for everyone, Robby looks at me wondering what I'm talking about. I asked him why, if this is a kid doctor, does he see the same doctor and he's almost 30? He shrugged and said oh. Apparently he thinks he sees a pediatrician, just because he's special, lol.

This was all in a half hour, most days pretty much go along the same lines. I swear he must be screwing with me, but I'm not so sure. I think he may just really be that clueless. Nothing scares me more than dying before my kids can take care of themselves.

It not over yet?

Yesterday we had thunderstorms, it rained all day and the snow melted away. Woohoo spring is finally on the way- or so I thought. I woke up this morning and there is 6 inches of fresh new nasty cold white stuff on the ground and still coming down :( I'm getting cabin fever I want to spend all day outside, I'm starting to go nuts! I want spring so bad I'm looking forward to raking the leaves. Sad, I know. There is an awful lot of them- the tree just weren't giving them up last fall, they were still attached until well after the first snowfall- dead but attached.

Laura had a blog post the other day titled Names to Avoid. Since she is expecting I had a pretty good idea what it was when I went there and read it holding my breath. She had a list of names and the meanings, and I realized in 80 weeks of pregnancy I never once considered what the names I picked out meant. Thankfully neither of my kids' names made her list but it got me thinking and I had to look them up, lol.

Saige (variation of Sage) means healing herb or wisdom. Okay, I lucked out there :)

Rylan- this was hard, I really had to search on that one, which is good, it's different which is what I wanted. I found Ryland (and a couple that said it was the same) a lot which means dweller in the rye field. The only site I actually found Rylan on, says it means "island" Huh? Maybe it's not the best meaning but, at least it wasn't "one destined to be an idiot" or something equally bad.

Calvin was on her list to avoid as meaning 'little bald one" hmmm it's fitting for Rylan, he STILL has no hair (well except for three or four at the top that are freakishly long). Poor little guy given his genes he better hurry up and grow some because it isn't going to last for long.

What a waste of money

Not really about my kids but I can't help myself.

I have been so calm lately, due mostly to the fact that I stopped reading the news... I know bad me but when I do I just get pissed off.

In May there will be checks coming to millions of Americans. Supposedly borrowing billions of dollars from another country to give back to us taxpayers is going to make a huge difference in our increasingly more sad economy. Yeah Right.

Anyway is there any American out there who has not yet heard all this? maybe six of those millions. This morning I read that the government is going o be mailing out a letter to all of these people telling them that their check will be coming. The cost for mailing these letters (which are separate from the checks) is 42 MILLION dollars. How stupid is that- why are they doing this- in case you live under a rock, don't watch TV or read a paper, or have any contact with outside world, and haven't heard about the "stimulus package" and so you don't call and ask the IRS. God forbid the people who live of our taxes actually work.

I wonder how many hungry children could be fed for 42 million dollars?
I wonder how many kids could see a doctor for 42 million dollars?
I wonder how many schools could benefit from 42 million dollars?
How many people still living in trailers after Katrina could be helped with 42 million dollars?
Or how many dying rescue workers from 911 with no health care could be treated with 42 million dollar?
How many forgotten soldiers could be helped with 42 million dollars

Not that any of it would save the world but it sure sounds better than 42 million on paper. We will get this refund but it will go towards bills not to buy a plasma tv. I don't see how adding more to the outrageous national debt is going to help us in anyway what so ever. How about doing something about oil prices. I would much rather afford to heat my house put gas in the tank and still have something left over than a one time piddly rebate of money they already took from me in taxes.

8 months

The little man is 8 months old today! Not all too much new. I have no idea how it happened, because I couldn't do it again if I tried 5,000 times I got a picture of his two teeth.

Cute huh? Below is my very first attempt to upload a video, it's really grainy. It's from my camera instead of the camcorder because I still haven't had a chance to sit down and figure out how to get the video saved on the computer :( I also have NO clue on how to edit video (another thing on my learn to do list) so by all means whoever watches can pat themselves on the back and think at least my pictures and videos aren't as bad as Tara's, and quite likely your house isn't as messy either. LOL

Oh how I hate my husbands job

Slowly Rob's job is becoming worse. It started last summer when they decided to change to change their FMLA policy on the very day Rylan was born, WITHOUT any prior notice. So instead of the time off without pay we had planned (like we did with Saige) he had to use all his vacation time up in July and he had to go back to work earlier than we had planned and left me alone in pain with the kids. I survived, but I'm still pissed about it.

Then came the milk, they were allowed a certain amount of milk to bring home, they changed it to none. I know free milk big deal, but when he has to work 13 days on 1 off for months on end the free milk was a perk. Now he is still working ALL the time and no more milk :( I never realized how much it costs to keep milk in the house with him- he could easily drink a gallon a day, and forget about him sharing with the kids.

Yesterday came the write ups. Last November Robby hurt his back and was taken out of work (on doctors orders) three days. There was no problem, he had sick time or so we thought, at the end of the year they even gave him a check for unused sick time. Two weeks ago he had the flu... which means he laid in bed whining and crying for three days. He called in, he couldn't have possibly worked and one must wonder why they would want him to come to work that sick when the product is consumed! It was apparently fine, they paid him sick time which means he had some.... Until yesterday when they called him in the office and handed him not one but two write ups. One for calling in Nov. which was apparently suppose to be a warning that he shouldn't call in a again or he would get a write up... from NOV. UGH Now I wasn't there but I'm assuming they gave him 3 or 4 seconds to be warned before handing over a second write up for calling in two weeks ago.

Maybe it's just me but I am not seeing how this is fair at all. I can see maybe 1 write up (although with the payment for time not used I don't think there should have been any). However 2? The second was shouldn't have come before the warning.... and if he screwed up in Nov why are they writing him up in March?

They need a union... it almost happened, I was crossing my fingers, but alas. HP Hood sucks... and gets worse by the day. Along with the write ups he can't bid on a new job for a year- and despite the fact he has sick time he is not allowed to call in again before 11/30 regardless of how sick he may be. I love how they seems to operate in their own little world. Who cares how unfair it is, who cares how burnt out all the underpaid over worked employees are as long as the big guys are getting the big bucks to sit on their asses and continue to find new ways to screw the very people who make them that money.

I probably shouldn't post all that in fear of them firing him because his wife said bad things about about their crappy company online. I would happily say it all to them but then we would be homeless :( I guess I can only hope they fire him over my blog... what a lawsuit that would be.

Clapping

Rylan has a new trick, he claps his hands. It's so cute, he gets so excited and starts clapping and then he stares at them, and looks at me, waits for me to do it, and then he does it again. I think he's trying to figure out why his hands don't make the same noise mine do.
