My ears are still ringing

Rylan was MUCH better today, thankfully. He did get up and get sick again last night. He was sitting with drinking his water when Rob came in and I convinced him to go sit with daddy so I cold go down and get the laundry and put the groceries away. He is a total daddy's boy, except when he's sick. He reluctantly went to him just in the nick of time, I barely got to the kitchen before Rob screamed babe! HA, yes I am mean. He (Rob) whined but I wasn't feeling bad for him, I got it a half dozen times and had to clean it too. But after he got daddy he walked up the stairs and waved. He wanted to go to bed. He slept through the night after that. I didn't sleep much, kept listening for him but he didn't so much as make a peep. That never happens, not even when he isn't sick so I had to keep going in to be sure he was alright.

It was rainy again today so we were stuck inside. Saige resisted all attempts at quiet activities, she was in a singing mood. She sang ALL, and I do mean ALL, day long. Songs that she made up, songs that made no sense, and then she would quiz me on them before moving to the next one. It's funny how one kid doesn't talk and the other doesn't shut up. Maybe they have something to do with each other. I try to remember that soon I will be missing these days but it's hard to not wish for just 2 minutes of quiet. It is extremely hard to write a letter and pay the bills when someone is throwing out random words right next to you. I do miss the days where I could tune it out, nod and say that's lovely but it doesn't fly anymore. Even worse, she gets mad when I wont sing these songs with her. It's hard to sing when they change by the minute and goes something like "the itsy bitsy horse went up the potato, down came the door and slided the monkey down" straight to "bus, car, foot, chair, brother, cat" with no tune at all. Apparently her musically ability comes from me.

When she did finally stop, it was while Rylan was in the tub. She stopped to get him to make animal noises. I was trapped in this tiny little echoing room while Rylan gave his version of cock-a-doodle-doo at the very top of his ear splitting lungs. Once I was convinced I would be deaf by the end of the night she went back to her strange songs and he continued to be a wolf, or a rooster or a sick combination of the two. Which lead to her stopping every three seconds to tell him to stop yelling because she can't even hear HIM think over all the noise. I bribed her with a movie and got them off to bed ten minutes early. I haven't done a damn thing since, the house is a mess and I just don't care. It's quiet in here and it's nice.

Why does the gross stuff always happen to ME?

Just once it would be nice if the illnesses could come when Robby was home and I could hide.

It actually started out as a pretty decent day, Rylan was good, Saige and I did some puzzles, everyone was happy. I told Saige she could have an ice cream cone if she finished all her dinner and she was doing great. I was cleaning up while she was finishing, Rylan climbed up at the table across from her and with no warning proceeded to vomit all over the table, floor, AND her dinner. She screamed and started crying that she wasn't going to get her ice cream because there was NO way she was eating that, lol. I gave her an ice cream cone and Rylan seemed perfectly fine. He went on his merry way pulling out all my clean tupperware and pots.

Then we went to Saige's room to clean out the toy box so I could move it to Rylan's room. All her stuff is rather small and it just gets lost in there and never played with and his toys are larger. I dumped it on the floor and brought in my laundry basket, we loaded all the tiny toys in the basket to put away in the organizer. Rylan was 'helping' in his Rylan way, mostly just throwing things. I took the basket and started to sort through, it was full, and put some stuff away into her organizer bin thingies. Rylan was still helping, taking all the toys from his room and bringing them in to throw in my basket, lol. Then again with no warning signs puked IN the basket on all the tiny little toys, on me, the carpet, and all over Saige's shelf full of dolls and stuffed animals. Yuck. I couldn't believe HOW much came out of that tiny little boy. I spent over an hour washing little toys (and throwing many away, shh). Cleaned the carpet and started yet another load of laundry. These things always happen on rainy days so I am forced to use my dryer. I try very hard not to operate the dryer April-Sept at all.

All was fine, I bathed the kids and hopped in the shower. Finished putting away the toys and worked on the rest of her room a little bit. Then we relaxed. Rylan was sitting with me with his head on my chest and puked again, down my shirt. I was wearing a yoga tank with the built in bra so it all just settled there. Are you wishing you were me yet? SO back to the shower I went, cleaned up and got him off to bed before starting tiny load of laundry #3. 25 minutes later he puked in his bed, changed the sheets, got him back to bed and 10 minutes later did it all again, and then again and then one more time. Load #5 is in the washer now. He's been asleep almost a half hour now, I hope it's over with. The poor little guy is exhausted, he was trying to stay awake while I changed him but was falling over in the chair the last time.

On a more positive note, the results from his hearing evaluation were finally sent out and went to Early Intervention. We have an appointment next Monday to start paperwork and see if there is a need for a speech evaluation. I am fairly certain there is and I hope she agrees so we can get moving on it if he qualifies. Which will be determined by the evaluation, and all of it is done in home. He is a very smart little boy and he does want to communicate, he tries, he really does. But, his vocabulary is very limited and while he does talk, most of his words sound the same. We can usually determine the basics, but a lot of the time we don't understand him either. He gets frustrated, we get frustrated. I am very eager for him to talk and to see if they can be of help to him and perhaps teach us how to be of more help to him.

This weekend

It was a great weekend. Robby had Saturday and Sunday off again this week. I had a ton of RR's from Walgreens I had to use so Sat we headed there to spend them and of course stopped at at least a dozen garage sales along the way. Found some more neat, cheap stuff that we don't really need, lol. Got the kids a few Dr Seuss books that we didn't have, a couple new movies and a pink kitty lunch box for Saige. I think she was more excited over this lunch box than she was over anything from her birthday. She carried it around the entire weekend and showed everyone who would look at it. She started hounding me to pack her breakfast for school immediately. I finally did this evening and had to explain why, since it was full of stuff that needed to be refrigerated, she could not sleep with it.

I found an awesome cabinet, it almost looks like it should hold a dart board but it doesn't, it has cube shelves inside, and it has a great picture on it. I bought it mostly for the picture. I walked by it and kept coming back to it. It doesn't go with anything I have but I just couldn't leave it and it was only $2. Rob found a DVD player and remote for $2, we don't really need another dvd player either but.... Oh and best of all, a gate that it Rylan proof (and Lola proof too!) It's huge and metal and it was only a buck. I also snagged some clothes for Saige, I pulled out her summer stuff last week to find she only had 1 pair of shorts. Last but not least a new Columbia winter coat for Rob... it was $6. He wont let me put it on ebay : (

Yesterday we went to MILs for a bonfire, Rylan passed out on her couch. This NEVER happens, he doesn't fall asleep just anywhere, only his crib and his car seat. Sure enough it lasted less than two minutes, he shot back awake held his bowl up and wanted more. It was cute while it lasted though. We didn't see much of Saige after Kayden showed up, they played all day. She was still going strong and didn't want to leave at 10.

Showing the puppy some love. Being bossy and telling someone to GO. He cruised around on his little four wheeler most of the day, oblivious to the other kids. Then daddy pushed him around on the dirt bike and finally took him for a ride. He liked it TOO much, from my perspective. I think I should get at least a couple years before we allow them toys that will most likely result in broken bones and many ER trips. Daddy, however, disagrees.

Rob had to work today, it's double time so I wont complain too much. We had an early cookout at my parents house, the kids played in the kiddie pool. Saige was begging to go in the real pool but mean old me wasn't having it. The water was freezing and there was NO way I was getting in there with her. I really don't know what I am going to do about Rylan when it comes to swimming this summer. I know he is going to want to but he can't get water in his ears and the waterproof earplugs just don't seem to work well for us at all. Maybe we need lessons on how to use them but they will be working great and half way through his bath fall out.

We played a game of crochet, my parents are way to easy on Saige. I can't wait until she tries to play 'her' way with other kids someday. Then we went out for ice cream and came home. I managed to do 6 loads of laundry and the kids helped me plant some more veggies and flowers. Saige even cleaned her room without too much prodding. Even Rylan was relatively good, only a few meltdowns. 7:30 came and Saige wanted to go to bed, I am never one to miss that kind of opportunity, put him to bed tucked her in and now I get to sit and enjoy my clean house.

Why is it that lately everyday has been warm and nice except for Sundays? Soccer is not much fun when the kids are blue and you are shivering so bad you can't pay attention.

Friday was the field trip to the pizza place, the kids got to make and eat there own pizzas it was really fun. It was originally planned for Thursday and I wasn't going because other parents signed up. But Thursday was stormy and wet so they postponed it and I am assuming that some of the parents couldn't rearrange their schedules so a couple of us got last minute calls Wed afternoon asking if we could go. I'm glad, I feel bad for the parents that missed, but it was fun, more so than the fire dept, so I am glad I got to join the class.

We are having the attic re-insulated so yesterday I spent the day keeping the kids away from Rylans room (the entrance to the attic) while they drove me nuts so Rob could clean out what was up there. This is interesting, I do NOT climb, I have never been in the attic. I asked him to clean it out last summer, since it's not exactly appropriate for storage anyway. He did, or he said he did anyway. Carried down a few things and said that's all. The guy who came through and checked it out last week said "and be sure to clear out the attic" I said huh? Rob told me oh don't worry it's only a few things. He was up and down for 4 1/2 hours, got two truck loads of junk. Actual junk, old 2x4s, small pieces of left over sheetrock, ends of boards, plastic wrap from god only knows what. Basically every home improvement we have tackled upstairs and he said he took care of, ended up in the attic. To me take care of means throw it away or if it's wood, put it in the fire pit. I'm am still wondering why he would think it was easier to carry it up the ladder into the attic than put it in a garbages bags but.... Now all he has to do is fix the ceiling. That should be fun, it's directly over the stairs and approx. 18 feet high. I have no clue how he is going to get a 8x4 piece of sheetrock up there, hold it and screw it in. He knows I do not climb and have already made it quite clear that I will NOT be helping.

It wasn't all bad, I got an awesome hope chest at a garage sale, my belated birthday present. I couldn't believe we found one, in fact I avoided it thinking there was no way it was going to be affordable. Robby pointed to it though and said hey don't you want one of these? It was only $40. Not that we had $40 to just spend but I know there is NO way I will ever find one that cheap again so we did it. Actually Rob haggled with a 12 year old and got that and a corner TV stand for $40. I did end up also buying glass fish at another sale because Saige broke them.

Apparently she was on a roll, I was out side covering up my garden beds when she come on the porch crying that she broke her snow globes. She has a collection of them, it's been made clear that if she wants to play with them it is one at a time and up 'til tonight she has been good about it. Robby was three feet away in her room when she decided to pile them all up on her bed together and then I am guessing she dropped one. Of course that broke 4 of them. Mickey mouse collector ones. Water and tiny pieces of glass all over her bed and in her blankets, and glitter. Glitter everywhere, not just on the bed. All this 5 minutes before bed time. Of course she had all the blankets on the bed, she usually sleeps with one but had three all piled up for a 'nest' for the snowglobes (yup Rob was in the room for ALL of this, no he did not make any attempt to clean up or say hey bad idea). She is up there with a few baby blankets that are way to small for her, I hope she is warm enough because I am not turning the heat on, nor am I doing any more laundry today.

Is it illegal to beat other people's kids?

Saige had her first soccer game last Sunday, she did terrific. The ENTIRE family came to watch so that really boosted her ego, she even scored a goal... for the other team but hey it was a goal none the less. They don't keep score but it's pretty safe to say her team kicked some butt, lol. The coach's son is very good and got goal, after goal. One if her classmates was on the other team and she didn't quite grasp why she was so suppose to play against him, as opposed to with him. But they all had fun and that's what counts.

Monday was the class trip to the public library. I think the last one of the year, I am a bit sad, I really enjoy going with them. Of course it reminds me that the end of the school year is fast approaching and I dread it. Not that she will be home, but that it means the new school year will be here before we know it and my baby will be gone all day. On the other hand 2 years 4 months until Rylan starts school and I get a few kid free hours everyday. Of course I will wind up pregnant before and have to restart the countdown.

Today I went with her class on the field trip to the fire station. The kids liked it, they got to go in the truck and see a fireman in all his gear. He had come to school to talk about fire safety with them a while back but it was a great way to reinforce it and learn about all the equipment and what a fireman all geared up really looks like to maybe ease some fears god-forbid any of them ever need one. Saige was really disappointed that was no pole like on TV, lol.

Tonight was soccer practice, we went early so the kids could play on the playground. This is at the elementary school, no one of the elementary school, Pre-K, K, and 1st, that's all. I think older kids should be banned. I was so freaking mad I could have killed an entire group of preteens and dragged them home to there parents dead. First their mouths, I admit I swear way more than I should but the crap that was coming from them around a dozen kids 6 and younger was just disgusting. Then they decided to chase each other around on the structures, yelling, screaming, swearing and pushing kids out of their way.

They pushed him out of there way and knocked Rylan down the big slide, sideways and upside down. The side of his face is bruised, where it isn't red and lumpy. Insert me taking a few breathes because I am pissed all over just remembering it.

Not so much as a sorry, but I think the next time they came around they realized by my face that if anyone of them came near either one of my kids again they would need the cops. They took off, to the soccer game with older kids... most of their parents were over there oblivious to the assholes they spawned. I KNOW everyone of them heard Rylan screaming, looked over and saw them running around with total disregard for the little kids... you know the ones the playground is for, and not a one got up and told their kids to knock it off. I'm not sure who to talk to about it but I will be asking when I go to school tomorrow for Kindergarten screening with Saige. I think if they can't act human or even remotely respectful they need to go elsewhere.

monsters

Robby had today off so we had a nice relaxing day. I read Twilight, I was beginning to think I was the only one on the planet that hadn't gotten into it. It was good. Rob got the lawn mowed for the first time, I'm kinda sad. It's suppose to be my job, I love mowing the lawn, and it was looking so pretty with all the tiny flowers all over it. Did some laundry, worked on Saige's dribbling skills, moved a few wheelbarrow loads of dirt, and a whole lot of nothing. The kids were good so we decided to take them to the movies. The drive in is finally open again.

It's the only movies we ever go to, not forced to sit next to anyone, no one has there head in your way and you can go in your jammies. It's awesome and you can bring your own snacks. So we picked up a pizza and went to see Monsters vs Aliens. I liked it, of course my boyfriend was in it so that made it so much better. For those of you who do not know, I am not so secretly in love with Hugh Laurie.

The problem with the drive in with kids, is that the movie doesn't start until 8:30 (although as summer progresses it will be more like 9:45) That is hard with kids that normally go to bed between 7:30-8. We thought for sure Rylan would be out, or just plain miserable and giving us a hard time. He stayed awake for the whole thing. Plus he wanted daddy, so while he was being a monster, pushing, pulling on anything everything on the car he could reach- it's didn't bother me a bit, he was on his lap. Saige on the other hand started whining half way through, she didn't feel good and wanted to go home. I figured she was overtired and there was no way I was leaving after paying if she wasn't puking. We made it through the movie, and the whining and left. Two miles up the road she started puking, thankfully she had a bag. Poor kid, I really just thought she was whining because tired, I didn't believe her that her stomach hurt. In my defense he stomach always hurts when she gets tired or doesn't want to do anything, she uses it as an excuse for everything. Although I suppose it's a good excuse to not buy pizza again, and to make it an adult only night the next trip to the movies.
