I take it all back... and my husband thinks I'm an idiot

I take back my post about being sad that Rylan was sleeping through the night- I take it all back!!! The past week and a half he has refused to sleep, he only naps for 20 minutes at a time and gets up 3-4 times a night. I need sleep, I miss sleep.

I have always had problems falling asleep, I lay there for hours and it just doesn't happen. Two nights ago was a rare night, Robby and I were in bed watching TV and I was fell asleep, he was wide awake, watching TV. Rylan wakes up crying. I'm was sleeping and after a minute of crying Robby shakes me and says "Are you going to get him?" UMMM HELLO I WAS SLEEPING!!!!!!!!!! I say no your up, you can get him he's probably hungry, feed him. I try to go back to sleep. He starts asking me the stupidest questions;
Robby- How do I feed him?
me- the same way you do any other time
Robby- Where are the bottles?
me- the same place they have been since he was born 4 months ago.
Robby- where should I feed him
me- (beyond pissed at this time) Anywhere you damn well please
Robby- opens his mouth to ask something else
me- (yelling now) Do you think I'm a fucking idiot? (yes I swear when I'm mad, sometime even when I'm not- bad mom) Do you think that no matter how stupid you pretend to be I'm going to get up and do it? I WAS SLEEPING you were not. (we have a deal, I get up in the middle of the night he gets up in the mornings, I didn't realize I had to add that if I was sleeping at 11:30 pm and he wasn't it was all him)
Robby- not even bothering to deny that is what he is doing "OH" and BAM suddenly he is capable of feeding the baby once again.

Too late, it took me hours to get back to sleep. I love him to death but there are moments I could choke him. Five and a half years ad he still doesn't know where we keep the laundry basket.

Rolling and FOOD

Rylan has figured out how to roll from his stomach to his back, now he can go both ways!!!! He doesn't go very far yet, but it's coming. He scoots on his back a lot, I will put him on the floor and 5 minutes later he is a foot or two from where he started. He looks more like his dad everyday, they are identical when they are sleeping :)

At his four month check-up the dr gave us the go ahead to start cereal. With Saige we waited another month but, I thought he was ready. For weeks he's been watching us eat while "chewing" and yelling. He was, he pretty much had it down at the first spoonful, lol. I had a video but the majority of it is Saige's hand. She kept standing in front of the camera and running around really quickly trying to glimpse herself on the led screen. Then she got it, she was only on it when she was in front. The rest of the video is her watching the screen and waving her hand in front of it telling me her hand was on t.v.

The dr suggested we introduce vegetables at 5 months, Last night I found an old jar of peas in the cupboard that expire tomorrow. I broke them out, we really don't have an family history of any food allergies so I'm not too worried on that end. HE LOVED THEM!! He couldn't get enough, I stopped after a few spoonfuls just in case. All seemed well and he polished of the jar tonight with lots of enthusiasm. I figured I might as well get a veggie or two in him before my mother starts sneaking him ice cream and applesauce. I found out much after the fact she was feeding Saige peanut butter months before I even considered it... HINT HINT if you are reading mom.

The bumbo...

I finally got a Bumbo seat for Rylan. What an ordeal... this was the 5th one I was bidding on, on Ebay. I didn't lose the others, they were all pulled like 10 minutes from the end for listing violations. I'm guessing they didn't have the idiot stickers... I really didn't care, I know enough not to leave my kid unattended on the counter in it and walk away. One would assume that it is common sense (although I did remind Robby just in case). These kind of recalls kill me, some parent made a bad call and their child was hurt, it's sad but come, do you really need a sticker to tell you something that simple, something you SHOULD already know? I think if that's the case there must be bigger issues and perhaps they should have waited to grow some brains before breeding in the first place.... Okay sorry for the rant. Anyway three days later I finally won one and it came Monday.

He doesn't really like it, it's okay for the first 30 seconds but he would rather lay on the floor or sit in the walker. I know, I know walkers are dangerous... again I use some common sense, in other words I try not to make a habit of setting him in it at the top of the stairs, lol. He can't reach the ground in it, but he likes the toys and kicking at nothing. I doubt he will even use it more than a few more weeks- he is on his way to being mobile. Man, that went by fast.

I posted pictures of all the beasts in my house, it seems I forgot one. So here he is in all his glory, showing off his peanut butter and jelly... My sexy (ha!) brother R.J.

4 months

Rylan turned 4 months on Tues, I can't believe how fast it's gone. He had his checkup yesterday, he is 14 lb 6 oz and 26 inches long! That is 4 inches longer than Saige was his age. He has gotten much better control of his hands and grabs at everything in reach- straight to his mouth. He still isn't rolling around, just two or three times here and there. He "talks" all the time, and he screeches loudly when he's happy. I have very loud children.

How to REALLY scare mommy

I have been cleaning and sorting through junk for two weeks now. The kids sure don't want to make it easy on me, lol. Today I put the baby down for a nap and I was hauling stuff back and forth from the basement, Saige was playing. I walked back into the room to see this.....



Don't worry, it's a doll, but it sure stopped me in my tracks. The doll is about the same size as Rylan, they wear the same size clothes. It took a few moments to register that the baby was indeed in his crib and not crushed on the dining room floor.


Rylan is fascinated with this thing, he "talks" to it, very cute. This isn't the first time it's freaked me out, the other day Robby had it sitting up with it's legs backwards, when I walked in the room I thought he was abusing our kid. In fact it's kinda creepy...

Halloween

We have been super busy, everyone took a turn at being sick last week and I have been doing some major cleaning. Thanks to free cycle, the salvation army and my garbage can, I think I'm making progress. Who knew we could fit so much STUFF in this tiny little house- good riddance

Anyway... I am the worst picture taker, I just can not get a good picture and the kids will only cooperate with my efforts for so long. Here's a poor picture of Rylan, he was a bear. He didn't care one way or the other, except his costume had hands to chew on,

Saige wanted a picture of her holding her brother in their costumes, but, they fell over before I got the chance.

Here is the best one of Saige, she was a lamb. The comments were about 50-50 on what a cute lamb and what a cute bunny she was. She had a blast trick or treating. She remembered to say "trick or treat" and "thank you" to everyone, even started throwing in "happy Halloween" after the thank you. Only 361 more days of hounding me until it's time to do it again, lol. Finally here is a pic of the kids with my dad after trick or treating.
