My little giant

Rylan had his 1 year well child visit today. He is 20lbs 8oz which is around the 15th percentile. He is 31 inches which is in the 90th percentile. We are all short, we have no idea where he gets this from, but no doubt he will even out as time goes on. I already forgot how big his head is, not that anyone cares anyway, lol, but it is the 50th percentile. Afterwards he had to go get his blood drawn for his lead test (hopefully the ONLY one until next year, I'm praying anyway) and that about sent him over the edge, now he is sleeping it off. All that screaming must have worn him out, it's been an hour and half without so much as a peep and that is rare for him.

I was able to check yes to everything on the checklists. Well I put no for helping dress himself but Dr. B said I should give him credit since he tries to out on shoes. his refusal to help dress is more out of his stubbornness and need to fight than him not knowing how.

She (his doc) says his molars are coming in, she managed to sneak a peek while he was having a fit. I tried to feel around last week and I got bit so I have pretty much avoided his mouth since the top teeth came in. Saige on the other hand has been but repeatedly but apparently still hasn't caught on that sticking her finger in his mouth is a bad idea. I'm not sure what she expects but she asks for it. She does it in the car and then cries that he bit her. They are both in car seats... he can't reach her UNLESS she sticks her hand in front of his face. I do hope they teach common sense in Pre-K cause sometimes I worry.

He has dermatitis, it just appeared out of nowhere on his back last weekend. I thought it was a heat rash but it didn't go away and it's spreading around to his chest. We aren't going to treat it, I want to avoid steroids unless absolutely necessary. The dr says it's harmless and as long as he isn't itching that Aveeno baby would be just fine. It bothers me more than him, because it feels weird. Poor little guy has zits too, just a couple and they disappear pretty quick but he keeps getting more, all on teh side of his cheeck. I think it's from sweating and sleeping on the side of his face.

Oh and in case I haven't mentioned it before.... he has hair!!!! FINALLY He has a bit in the back and it's getting longer and thicker and he is slooooooowly getting more on the top. It is very blond, almost transparent so he still looks bald from a distance.

He is walking more and more, I have to get video of him crawling before he stops completely so you can all see him travel. His style gets a lot of comments. He is slowly adding words here and there, he now says "uh oh" and "how' for House (our guinea pig) and "A-O" for hello while holding the phone (or a remote, shoe, stick or anything else) to his ear. I am finally being called Ma.... but then again so is Robby. He understands ma and da if one of us or Saige says it but....

I am a bzzagent, which I have mentioned before, it is a WOM (word of mouth) company. Their campaigns allow me to try products for free or at a discount, in return I am free to tell people, or not tell people what I think. I have had some great campaigns in the past.

Currently I am in the American Express Plum card campaign. I only took this because they just kept offering it to me, even though I turned it down repeatedly. I have shared exactly what I think of American Express who pushed this on probably all 450,000 bzzagents even though it is a business credit card. If I didn't like them before, I like them even less now. I think it's pathetic how they push debt at anyone who will take it. The really sad part is a lot of people took this one simply to gain status with bzzagent, and ended up applying for a card they really don't need.

Today I got the email below in my inbox, I may be an idiot but how in any capacity is saying "that that" to rising costs using a credit card a good idea? Would that not be shooting yourself in the foot? Take that is a fitting phrase, just turn around and bend over first.

Evil credit card companies

As some of you know, since I have been unable to shut up about it. I bought Mary Hunt's Debt Proof Living book a month ago. I am an avid reader of her blog and her columns and I have been for years but I just thought it was a nice idea but to good (or too hard) to be reality. I really believe the book has changed our lives in a great way- we can't see it yet but I am beyond excited at the prospect. It is a simple easy to follow plan to get out of debt and stay there and I am completely convinced it will work.

Those of you familiar with Mary Hunt know how she feels about credit cards and credit card companies, and she is right. They abuse their power and take advantage of consumers, not that we aren't at fault too but they can and they do, do awful things like tripling your interest rate simply because they can. Check out THIS post or THIS site and send in a comment if you agree there needs to be a change.

Hole in One

We went miniature golfing and Saige got the only hole in one. I promised I would write about in the 'puter near the pictures, lol. How she did it is beyond me, we could not get her to hold the club right for anything. Despite that she actually did really well. She thinks she is ready to join the PGA tour, lol.

birthdays and more birthdays

Friday was Kayden's birthday party, Saige had a blast. There was a huge water slide and while the older boys weren't playing on it? Did you know that a group of boys playing is kinda scary to a three foot tall lone little girl? lol

Rylan refused to walk, I got to tell everyone that he was, but he wouldn't get up and do it. I swear he was smiling at me when he just plopped back down. Oh well everyone seems to find his crawl more entertaining anyway.

Yesterday was Robby's 30th birthday.
He is passed out cold on the couch now, I guess he stayed up until 3 this morning. Nope, not drinking and partying, he was playing the Wii. I on the other hand did drink and went to bed at 11. I told him I had every intention of celebrating, since after all I am married to the old guy :) This morning- I feel like the old guy, but you'll have that occasionally.

Some people got to see Rylan walk. Apparently this is a trick he will only do INSIDE. Maybe he doesn't like the grass on his feet. For the longest time he didn't want it to touch him at all, which made for some funny butt balancing when we set him in the yard.

I think someone accidentally took my glasses home with them, it is hard to operate the computer without them, so forgive my mistakes I can't see them.

Rylan goes for his one year check up this week so we will finally get a weight on him. He was so big for the longest time but he seems to have slowed down in the last few months, I don't think he is 20 lbs yet. He feels so light, and it's surprising because he eats, and eats, and eats some more. He has not met a food yet that he doesn't like.

I've been sitting here waiting for someone to clean up from yesterday, apparently no one is going to magically appear so I am going to have to do it myself :( Mowing the grass a few hours before having lots of people over is NOT the best way to keep your house clean. LOL

I wrote too soon

About five minutes after my last post Rylan realized his steps weren't just a way to get mommy excited and an actual way to get around. He spent the rest of the night practicing. We have moved on to a new level and hopefully left the 'find invisible things on the floor and put them in my mouth' phase behind.

baby steps

Last Saturday Rylan walked all the way across the living room, like he had been walking all along. He stopped, stood there, looked at me and dropped his hands down and went on his merry way with his hands and feet. We have gotten a few steps here and there since, he doesn't fall just teeters along a few steps and drops to the floor because it's quicker. He will get up and walk two steps sit and wait for us to cheer him on, then he giggles and gets up and takes two more steps... he thinks it's a trick and he is quite proud of himself.
