and this kid too....
So much for my while one is bad the other will be good theory. I changed Rylan's diaper and he grabbed it to take it to the trash like he always does, instead he turned and nailed me in the side of the head with it.
What is with this kid?
I'm not sure what the appeal to toothpaste is other than it pisses me off. Over the weekend, Saige again slathered her brother in toothpaste while my back was turned (literally- I was RIGHT there) she is obviously getting braver at pushing my buttons. SO she spent a very boring weekend being punished.
Today in school a dentist (one of the moms) came in to talk to the kids about good dental care and handed out little goody bags. She came home and showed me her toothbrush, floss, a little treasure chest for lost teeth, and she quickly flashed a small tube of toothpaste. I could tell from across the room that it looked... deflated. Sure enough the little treasure chest was filled with bubble gum scented blue goo, it was all over her coat and her book bag. She KNOWS opening her book bag on the bus is a no-no. I'm writing a note to her teacher and ratting her out although I am sure she left tell take signs of blue goo on the bus seat. Maybe they will have better luck than I am. I told her next time she loses a trip to grammy's house. Grammy wont be happy but I bet watching he brother go and her being left bored at home WILL have an effect.

Progress Report
Saige brought home her 'report card'. They call them progress reports at the pre-k level and they are basically a big list of skills, social skills and a comment. I am very proud to report that she had ALL yes check marks and glowing comments about her being a good role model (phew... who knows where she gets it but I wont complain) and well behaved.
Lemonade award
I got a Lemonade Award from Eboni from A Common Street Peddler, which is filled with yummy sounding recipes ( we all know I can't cook, lol) and Ah, Art. She is super sweet, she called me nice and calm, lol.I am suppose to pass this on but half of the blogs I read are already in the line up, so I will pass it to however would like to participate.

she did what?
I think Saige has been possessed by a naughty bug. Or my children have swapped personalities, Rylan has been unusually good the past couple days.
I guess I am a bad mom, while I shower I leave the door open leave the kids playing upstairs (where the shower is) I have a tiny little house so they are never far, it is for the most part child proofed and plus I have a Saige who is more than happy to sound the alarm if the little guy is doing/touching/ looking at or breathing in the direction of something wrong.
Monday afternoon I took a shower, when I opened the curtain I was greeted by Rylan standing there, his head completely covered in white goo, almost a whole tube of diaper cream. I grabbed my towel while yelling 'what did you do??' At which point I saw Saige go flying into her room and hide. She gave it away.... he had help. I was afraid to go assess the rest of the damage but thankfully it was limited to his head and hair and he came straight to show me before rolling on my bed.
Saige said she was sorry and didn't mean it. How do you slather your brother in thick white cream, rub it in and NOT mean it?? So we talked about why it was a bad idea and she seemed sorry. For the record... diaper cream is NOT easily removed from hair. Lucky for him, maybe the cream helped prevent a nasty rash he should have had from me rubbing and wiping his head to get it off because you can't wash it out.. water makes it worse.
Now for the most part Saige is a great kid, well behaved, we skipped the terrible twos or so I thought. She has never really done anything like that. She did write on my white 1000 TC sheets with a black sharpie once, but she was 2.
Yesterday we had dinner and she announced she was off to brush her teeth, I thought nothing of it. I brush them before bed to be sure it's done well but let her do it during the day if she wishes, she is going on 5 so she's been using the bathroom alone for a very long time now. Rylan went in with her while I loaded the dishwasher. He likes to stand on the steps in front of the sink and pretend to spit. Harmless, or so I thought. I clean up the kitchen and here comes Rylan..... his head slathered in green slimy watermelon scented goo this time. She dumped a whole thing of Colgate kids 2 in 1 toothpaste. Some on his head, some rubbed all over the mirror and medicine cabinet and the rest along with a second tube of toothpaste in and all over the sink and floor.
Needless to say I was pissed. This is something you expect from a baby or toddler, not a normally well behaved little girl. She spent most of the rest of the evening in her room and lost a couple days worth of privileges. I was so mad I took away privileges she probably wasn't going to have in the first place, lol. I have no idea what has gotten into her but I want my little girl back.
I'm almost afraid it's a influence from school. The little girl she calls her 'best friend' is a bit of a demon, in cute way but a demon none the less. She is a handful, and seems to be involved with every reprimand Saige has gotten at school. In her defense (I swear I'm not delusional... this comes from the teacher) Saige tends to get herself in trouble trying to make the other girl do what she should be doing. But in telling the other girl she needs to come sit down/line up/ stop talking... she isn't doing it herself. Every time I see them together I get these glimpses of the future. The two of them as teenagers, and it's scary, lol.

It was public library day today. It was actually pretty nice out, in the 30's and the wind wasn't bad. The sidewalks however were not as nice as the air. Most people don't seem to bother to clean their section at all and the rest was just plain icy. Lots of short people slipping and falling, no major injury's, thankfully. There was also a lot of saying... no ____ don't eat the dirty snow. Umm not sure why anyone, even short people would want to eat dirty snow but it seemed pretty popular, lol. Not my kid, but of course I was holding her hand, makes me wonder if she would have joined in because her friends were if I wasn't there. The highlight of the trip was a pair of nasty panties in the middle of the sidewalk, in the middle of town. How does one lose their panties in the middle of town, in the middle of winter? I don't want to know. The little boy Saige and I were walking with goes "Gee she must have been cold being naked out here in the snow, my mom would yell at me" I just smiled and nodded.
