baby steps
Last Saturday Rylan walked all the way across the living room, like he had been walking all along. He stopped, stood there, looked at me and dropped his hands down and went on his merry way with his hands and feet. We have gotten a few steps here and there since, he doesn't fall just teeters along a few steps and drops to the floor because it's quicker. He will get up and walk two steps sit and wait for us to cheer him on, then he giggles and gets up and takes two more steps... he thinks it's a trick and he is quite proud of himself.

He liked his mashed potatoes, and he did it all by himself
He keeps taking steps, when I go to pick him up I just keep moving backwards- he CAN and he WILL take three or four steps but he screams and cries like I am beating him while he does it. He does not like to be teased, he gets so upset when I back up that I don't think he even realizes he's walking. His new favorite thing is throwing himself forward, face first into the floor and laughing at himself in delight when he does it. Strange kid, lol.
I just liked these two
Saige has spent the last two weeks picking berries, her fingers and face are permanently purple. I send her out with a bowl and she will be out there picking for 45 mins, she never makes it back without eating every one. This was MY bowl

It's gone
It came down this morning, it's hard to see just how big it was in the picture, 13 feet around at the bottom and a lot more at the fork. My backyard looks naked, surprisingly the half dead thing provided a lot of shade, if not from the leaves, just the sheer size of it.Robby was all gung ho with his chainsaw this morning- he says he is going to cut it all up himself. Well now he doesn't have a choice and I am going to insist it gets done soon too. I know him to well, about 15 minutes in tomorrow morning, he is going to realize it isn't as fun as he thought it would be, and starting to look more like work. He will come up with 6000 reasons why he can't do anymore whether both chainsaws are broken, it's hot, or the gods are looking at him funny.
There is possibility there though... I can probably get some of the rest of his half done projects finished, out of his attempt to avoid the tree before I send him back to it :)

Magical Monday Mail
My mailman brought me a 47 dollar Rite Aid rebate check (and I still have more coming from them for June) and a 36 dollar Survey Spot check. I was expecting both, but not for a while, plus I got a huge envelope of coupons. I never get good mail on a Monday! Hopefully it's a sign of the week to come. I was sure ready for ready for some good things.

We did nothing and went to bed early, lol, it was nice. Since we went to sleep early so we didn't sleep in, instead we got up and slowly drank a pot of coffee without anyone yelling, crying, whining, or needing anything before we went and picked up reality. I think I should be entitled to one of those mornings every couple months or so.
Last night we went to the drive-in and saw Hancock (I actually liked it, I liked Iron Man too, and I don't particularly like those kinds of movies). As I'm sure you know, the drive-in is the best deal in town, 2 movies 7 bucks and you can wear your pj's. The second movie was You Don't Mess with the Zohan. It was stupid. Funny, but stupid. It was like Borat, Adam Sandler style. There was one scene in a kids salon with a kid that had me spitting soda out my nose, so I guess that one scene made it worth it.
Is it possible that Rylan magically became more fun when he turned one? As fas as he goes it's been a pretty great week, he's been relatively less whiny, and more playful and fun. He loves to show off his words, his favorite and best being ball. He is still not walking but he stands up and threatens. He did take an unassisted step a couple of times going from the couch to a toy- but he didn't seem to notice, at least not enough to get up and try it again, that was 4 days ago, lol.
The giant, half dead dangerous tree in the backyard is coming down tomorrow- there will be guys doing loud things outside my window at 7 am.

Dish Network disappoints again
It's still not over. It has been over the 10 business days promised for my refund back form Dish Network, so I had to call today :( I really hoped I was done, 100% for good, but yet again they have managed to use up an hour of my time and a few of those last precious starnds keeping me on this side of sane.
I get a guy, speaking very poor broken English. I tell him, I called before, I was told my check would be on the way and I would receive it no later than 10 business days.
He says " I see you call on 26th... you were issue refund of 42.77"
I say it was suppose to be 59.51
He says " and also refund for 17.74"
I said that is a dollar extra but okay whatever, where are they?
He says "they was issue on 26th, one 42.77 and one 17.74 on a 59.51 credit in your account"
I again say okay where are then, were they mailed? can you tell me when?
He says "they denied on the 27th." Then nothing, he went silent
I wanted to know why they were denied, I sent back the equipment, the woman I spoke with said everything was fine and the check was on the way. Why if there was a problem did they not call me? Would they not call if it was the other way around and I owed them money?
He repeated the same thing...they were issued on the 26th, two refunds on a credit on your account and denied on the 27th
I said BUT WHY?
He actually repeated himself again... the same thing, they were issued blah blah blah but could give me no reason why. I asked for a supervisor about 10 times before he actually transferred me to one.
This one says I can;t have a refund because it was viewing credits and I can't have them back. I said no it was a bill- they get paid a month ahead (july) and I canceled and returned the equipment in June, I paid July's bill a few days before I canceled, before the month actually started as stated on the bill and I want my money back.
She says well there was viewing credits too for 24 dollars. I said yes, that was what the guy 6 phone calls back gave me because I lost any and all channels in the second week of June... a month I also paid in full for service that wasn't there, and Dish Network really dropped the ball on getting it taken care of in a timely manner. I paid for a service- you didn't provide and now I want what I overpaid, I am not asking for anymore, just what I am owed sent to me.
I fought with her for 20 FRUSTRATING minutes... she claims (6F2 in the Philippines- for my own record) claims that 34.99 will be returned, they refuse to pay me the credit, that they gave me for the lack of service. At that point I just wanted off the phone. It will be in the mail and not to call unless it's been 4 weeks. Okay last time it was gonna take 7 days and now I have to wait a month more? Seriously I don't think I have ever had a good service experience with them, not even a mediocre one.
Ten minutes after I hung up the phone, it rang. It was a Dish Network rep calling to say she sees I canceled a few weeks ago and wondered if I would take a few minutes to tell her why and let her try to win me back.
The irony killed me, I am sure she thinks I am a loon because I immediately broke into hysterical laughter. She must be pretty good at her job, she did manage to not piss me off and she wasn't reading a script, she actually responded to what I said and it made sense. I talked to her for 42 mins.
She didn't win me back though she tried pretty hard, the offers were tempting, I just don't think at this point there is a deal they could offer that would make me forget, or make up for my experience so far. She says Dish Network is making an effort to better their customer service.
Obviously that meeting was held in the 2 minutes between phone calls because the last 2 morons earlier sure weren't trying very hard.
She asked if I switched to cable or direct tv. I told her neither one, cable costs too much and I wrote off Direct Tv years ago because of some of the same issues I had with Dish and their poor customer service as well. I do have to say I hated them, and still wouldn't go back but DirectTv was 15xs better than Dish Network.
Wish me luck, hopefully my next DishNetwork post will be a hooray it's really, really over. LOL

Shopping
I did pretty good today, I got a bunch of great deals. Nothing overly extreme, I would have taken a picture but I put every thing away before I thought of it and I would be damned if I was dragging it all out again.
I started at Walgreens
3 cans Ajax powder
2 cans Pledge (with free dusters)
2 Sure deodorant
3 boxes Puffs
1 Bayer asprin
2 bags of chips
1 dozen eggs

Then we went to Price Chopper (Rob already shopped one earlier in the week, they have a gas program but I was near the other one that had double any P&G coupon so I had to take advantage of at least one (mostly because I somehow lost the second one between here and the store)

1 16 mozz cheese
1 16 package of bacon
4 travel size toiletries (powder, lotion, body wash)
1 bag of timothy hay for House (the piggy, he's been begging for it, and well he's my favorite, lol.
1 whole frying chicken

Happy Birthday Rylan!!!
Well we made it. Today was Rylan's first birthday. We had a small party for him and he was great ALL day long., lol.
Missing the top of his head, but I love the face.
This whole thing is for me? I dunno....
and for the rest of us
As soon as all that unhealthy sugar hit his lips there was no more hesitation.
Got some cool new toys that Saige had a good time opening, he didn't much care until AFTER he saw what they were, the pretty packages didn't interest him much. Then again, Robby immediately threw out the boxes so they toys were the only thing left to play with. He did continue to play with this one all day long though, I already see him and Zailor fighting over it.
We put him to bed and took Saige to see the fireworks, just got home, and I am whooped.
